The Influence of Music

I have spent the last year and a half listening to some great new thought leaders, inspirational speakers, meditating and following the laws of attraction.  I have always loved music and can remember a time when nothing could stop me from my favorite TV show- American Bandstand.

I was just a small child when American Bandstand was televised but nevertheless, nothing could keep me from watching the show.  I mention this because music has influenced me all of my life.  Some of the greatest words that have have ever been written have been recorded and made  into beautiful songs- interpreted and delivered by magnificent, gifted voices.  Recently I started back listening to music and I laughed to myself because some of the words I listened to are so empowering, inspiring and motivating which reminded me that songwriters- those great ones, were already practicing those laws of attraction that we hear so much about today.  It made me feel really great to hear some of the old songs again and the lyrics meant more to me today than in those years past.

Asked to come up with a song containing a simple message that would be understood by viewers of all nationalities, John Lennon's  All You Need is Love extended the message. It was an inspired song and he really wanted to give the world a message. The best thing about it is that it cannot be misinterpreted. It is a clear message saying that love is everything. John was fascinated by the power of slogans to unite people and was never afraid to create art out of propaganda. When asked in 1971 whether songs like Give Peace a Chance were propaganda songs, he answered, "Sure. So was All You Need Is Love. I'm a revolutionary artist. My art is dedicated to change."

All the best,
